DeAndre Holmes, Class of 2010
DeAndre went to ACE on the Tyee Complex. He joined UB in 2006 right out of middle school after the Learning Specialists did a presentation at his school. The program surrounded him with other college going students and reminded him that he should accept nothing less than what he wants to do with his life. The resources like field trips and being exposed to the college lifestyle helped DeAndre to further cement those goals. He鈥檚 now studying American Ethnic Studies and Economics at UW and plans on becoming a social studies teacher or a high school counselor one day. The mentors he鈥檚 had in his life throughout his life inspired him and made him want to give back to the community, and told him he has the potential to be great.
